Apart from the costs associated with hardware and software, the organisation also needs to take time and effort for training employees and establishing new roles to aid in the VDAS implementation.
What software will I need?
The types of software that you may need are listed below. Please note that some of these may not be applicable to your project.
- Object-oriented 3D modelling software for creating and manipulating models (i.e. Autodesk Revit or Bentley Microstation)
- Engineering analysis software (i.e. Risa 3D or Tekla Structures)
- Rendering software (i.e. 3D Studio Max)
- Coordination software (i.e. Navisworks or Tekla Structures)
- Estimating software (i.e. Timberline or Graphisoft Constructor)
- Detailing Software (i.e. Tekla Structures or SDS/2)
- Geospatial data management and analysis software (e.g. ArcGIS)
- Facility and asset information management software’s
- AIM and PIM common data environments
How will I learn this software?
The relevant software can be learnt through training. This can be conducted by a BIM consultant, online software tutorials, experienced employee/s or an authorised training centre.
