VDAS access to international standards

The Victorian Digital Asset Strategy (VDAS) follows international best practices and standards.

Continuing the drive towards consistency and best practice, Office of Projects Victoria (OPV) has secured access to international digital engineering standards through the Victorian Government Library Service.

Victorian Public Service employees now have access to International Standards Organisation (ISO) 19650. ISO 19650 highlights the criticality and value of data and information over the entire life cycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM).

The two available ISO standards are:

BS EN ISO 19650-1: Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling -- Information management using building information modelling: Concepts and principles; and

BS EN ISO 19650-2: Organisation and digitisation of information about buildings and civil engineering works, including building information modelling -- Information management using building information modelling: Delivery phase of the assets.

ISO 19650 supersedes British Standards (BS) 1192:2007+A2:2016 and Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 1192-2:2013.

How to access the standards

The VDAS gives Victorian government practitioners access to ISO 19650-1 and -2 through an easy two-step process.
